Hammerhead Shark Conservation Status

All in all the hammerhead shark thrives in the waters around the world and could not be better. The hammerhead sharks hunt, eat and migrate just as they should and there are a lot of them so there is no real reason to be worrying about them. All in all the hammerhead sharks are fine and do not need any kind of conservation status as a whole, but individually is a whole other question.

Conservation status (Hammerhead Shark) – Species by species

Although there are a lot of hammerhead sharks out there in the world almost all of the known species are on the ICUN Red List. The hammerhead sharks are many all together but species by species they are quite few. Still, most of these species are only considered to be of “least concern” which means that although they are threatened there is no reason to start any kinds of conservations or projects right yet. It is better to just minimize the damage to their habitants and see if the species alone can make a healthy comeback. Humans mean well but nature always knows best.

Conservation status (Hammerhead Shark) – Worst ones off

The worst species off are the great hammerhead and the smalleye hammerhead. The great hammerhead is little of a problem since it is not sure how many, or few, they really are so while scientists are getting their numbers and facts together it is considered to be vulnerable, although it might be the best off of all the species. The smalleye hammerhead on the other hand is considered to be in a vulnerable state and is regularly checked up on so that the conditions does not weaken, if that happens some major project will have to be started in order to preserve this species.
